Job Title: Finance Analyst

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • We are recruiting for a Finance Analyst who will work with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure effective and efficient implementation of finance processes, procedures and policies; including processing of financial transactions, financial analysis, financial reporting and treasury & investments.
  • The Finance Analyst will be responsible for providing high quality analysis of the Company’s financial activities to ensure availability of critical information for decision making within the Company.

Main Responsibilities

  • Coordinate finance policies and processes, updates and ensures withdrawal of outdated policies and processes.
  • Collation feedback and evaluates information on financial control lapses from various sources.
  • Carry out processing of all financial transactions of the Company in line with the relevant processes, procedures and policies.
  • Prepare daily activity records and Company’s financial position.
  • Post duly approved entries in Company’s core accounting application and generate the trial balance
  • Prepare accurate and timely journal entries in support of all financial transactions.
  • Calculates and analyse trends in line with the Company’s strategic objectives.
  • Prepares and evaluates financial projections – income statements, balance sheet, cash flow and key ratios.
  • Prepare yield and cost reports of assets and liabilities compare to budget.
  • Conducts financial and economic analyses of customers, projects and initiatives to assess profitability and performance.
  • Collects and analyzes all financial data and appropriate performance indicators to ensure optimal balance sheet management
  • Assist in developing and maintaining budgeting and financial forecasting tools.
  • Be abreast of the relevant tax laws and regulations; and ensure compliance but the Company.
  • Remit the relevant taxes and file tax returns within the timeline stipulated in the tax laws.
  • Ensure that the Company’s activities are subjected to the appropriate tax.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and analysis Manage the liaison with auditors during reviews of the Company’s records
  • Provides financial expertise to teams in charge of activities at the various stages of project cycle, namely identification, preparation, appraisal, implementation and completion
  • Assists with the provision of financial recommendations and advice to the management
  • Reviews and reports on the alignment of proposed capital expenditure for initiatives with the Company’s objectives/performance targets as well as perform cost-benefit analysis
  • Conducts review on historic performance and prepares report on financial trends and financial statement analysis
  • Generates financial ratios between current and prior year values in the Balance Sheet, Income and Cash Flow Statements
  • Assist in developing and maintaining budgeting and financial forecasting tools
  • Monitor and track budget performance
  • Prepare periodic budget performance report for functions in the Company
  • Be abreast of the relevant tax laws and regulations; and ensure compliance but the Company
  • Ensure that the Company’s activities are subjected to the appropriate tax
  • Remit the relevant taxes and file tax returns within the timeline stipulated in the tax laws
  • Liaise with the Company’s appointed tax consultant on tax issues.

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Finance, Accounts or any Social Management Sciences or Business-related discipline.
  • Having a Master’s Degree in a related field is an added advantage.
  • Candidates should have a Professional certificates/Membership (ICAN, CPA, ACCA, CFA).
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in an Accounting or finance related function
  • Financial services industry knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standards and regulations (GAAP/IFRS etc.)
  • Working knowledge of financial control and analysis.
  • Knowledge of controls and risk Management.
  • Knowledge of cash-flow and financial modelling.
  • Knowledge of local and international economic and development issues.

Job Title: Risk Management Officer

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Description

  • On behalf of our client in the financial sector, we are currently recruiting for a Risk Management Officer who will work closely with the Head, Risk Management and operations department to ensure effective and efficient implementation of risk management framework, including review of the framework and analyzing of guarantee application & origination.
  • The Risk Management Officer will be responsible for assessing, rating, recommending, monitoring and reporting on guarantee operations, financial, strategic and risks compliance that the organization faces in delivery of its mandate.
  • He/she will also assist the risk department in the assessment and monitoring of the credit risk counterparties, including partner financial institutions, issuers of investment instruments etc.

Main Responsibilities

  • The Risk Management Officer shall work closely with the Head, Risk Management to identify and analyze the areas of potential risks threatening the assets, earning capacity and success of operations.
  • Collaborate with operations department to perform guarantee applications review, post guarantee review, guarantee monitoring, guarantee claim process review and claims refund activities & implementation.
  • Perform regular and delinquency audits to monitor exposure to non-performing guaranteed loans and manage and mitigate credit risk.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders in assessing and providing independent assurance of the adequacy, appropriateness and effectiveness of overall risk management framework, policy and implementation plan.
  • Review the presentations of guarantee proposals ensuring that all the information necessary for decision-making are well captured in the proposal.
  • Evaluate due diligence recommendation report including risk evaluation and advise management on cooperation with PFIs.
  • Evaluate guarantee application received from prospective PFIs to establish the creditworthiness of the PFI, and identify the risks and opportunities in developing a partnership with the PFI and to establish the base to develop a path for the guarantee cooperation including the intensity of the guarantee assessment.
  • Review guarantee appraisal of loans to be placed under guarantee to determine the Risk Acceptance Criteria and advise management on key findings.
  • Conduct periodic portfolio monitoring on guarantee operations and credit risk to ensure performance & compliance.
  • Review and appraisal of guarantee claims application with recommendation on whether to approve the guarantee claim or to reject.
  • Review and monitor claims refunds report status quarterly and initiate random file audits to ensure proper handling by the PFIs.
  • Ensure compliance with various laws and regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline.
  • Having a Master’s Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance / Accounting is an added advantage.
  • Significant experience in financial services particularly in the areas of risk management, internal audit, strategic planning and governance frameworks with at least 5 years hand-on experience.
  • A background in banking, actuary or insurance is essential.
  • Experience with credit risk guarantees/insurance and exposure to development issues is desirable.
  • Ability to exercise and perform oversight functions over governance, risk, compliance and control arrangements in a complex financial operation.
  • Proven ability to evaluate a number of risk types, ideally including credit risk, operational risk, market risk, liquidity risk, reputational risk, legal risk, compliance risk, AML risks, information security risk, concentration risk, investment risk, and strategic risk.
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk control arrangements; – Knowledge in regulatory environment and key regulatory regimes in Nigeria.

Job Title: Head, Internal Audit

Job Description

  • On behalf of a client in the Financial Sector, we are currently recruiting for Head, Internal Audit who will be responsible for ensuring that the client’s internal control systems are adequate and effective in safeguarding the company’s assets.
  • The Head, Internal Audit will be responsible for the reliability, accuracy, and integrity of management information systems, related policies, plans, procedures and records, as well as their adequacy to effectively accomplish intended objectives.
  • The Head, Internal Audit will also be responsible for the performance and control of the internal audit function, ensuring that all financial standards, regulations, and statutory provisions are complied with and that the appropriate financial controls are in place to ensure the efficient, effective and proper use of resources. The Head, Internal Audit will report periodically to the Managing Director/Board of Directors through the Board Audit & Compliance Committee stating the result of its audit and related recommendations.

  • Manages the department’s overall activities.
  • Prepares and supervises the Internal Audit department’s budget.

  • Conducts ad-hoc audit reviews to investigate any areas identified by management.
  • Coordinates documentation of audit findings, drafting of audit reports, communication of audit issues and performs follow up actions to ensure that identified issues are promptly resolved.
  • Determines the conformity of audits with professional’s standards; determine the conformity of presentation and disclosures in financial statements with applicable accounting standards.
  • Advises management, on an ongoing basis, on accounting, reporting, control and compliance issues to prevent costly errors and irregularities.
  • Prepares relevant reports related to Internal Audit functions
  • Reports periodically to the Board of Directors through the Board Audit and Compliance Committee stating the result of its audit and related recommendations, as specified in the internal audit charter and yearly audit plan.
  • Evaluates the company’s exposure to risk relating to the achievement of its corporate targets (KPIs).
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the organization’s continuous risk management processes.
  • Evaluates the adequacy of Management’s fraud prevention strategies.
  • Evaluates and reviews fraud control policies and procedures.
  • Conducts follow-up on investigations related to any possible breach of all policies, procedures, and operating guidelines.

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in any Accounting or Social Sciences related discipline.
  • Having a Master’s Degree in business-related field or management is an added advantage.
  • Candidates should have a Professional Certificates/Membership (ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, CIMA,IIA, CISA ).
  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant work experience in an accounting/auditing role is required.
  • Understanding of Audit policies and procedures, documentation, investigation principles and practice
  • Sound knowledge and auditing experience of operations, financial instruments and information systems such as SAP/R3 system, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Integrated Audit Approach.
  • Knowledge of risk management techniques and in-depth knowledge of the operations/ activities within a credit guarantee company.
  • Understanding of accounting and financial statements.
  • Local and international accounting standards, Banking practices and financial services business.
  • Expertise in internal auditing procedures, international accounting standards, report writing, time and performance management.
  • Expertise in the collation, analysis, and summary of financial operations data
  • Expertise in Policy Development
  • Expertise in Budget and cost management.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion.
  • Prior team lead experience is an added advantage.
