1. What is the Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Competition 2026?

The Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Competition 2026 is a pan-African entrepreneurship competition created by the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Philanthropy. The program is designed to support and empower African entrepreneurs who are building impactful and innovative businesses across the continent.

The 2026 edition offers a total prize pool of $1.5 million in grant funding to 10 outstanding finalists. In addition to funding, participants receive mentorship, training, networking opportunities, and global exposure.

2. Who is eligible to apply for the ABH Competition 2026?

To qualify for the competition, applicants must:

  • Be African citizens or legal residents of an African country.
  • Own or co-found a business that is registered and headquartered in Africa.
  • Have a business with at least three years of operational track record.
  • Demonstrate positive social and economic impact through their business.

The competition is open to entrepreneurs from all sectors, including fintech, agriculture, healthcare, logistics, climate innovation, manufacturing, and technology. Applications can be submitted in English or French.

3. How is the $1.5 million prize shared among winners?

The $1.5 million grant funding is distributed among the Top 10 finalists as follows:

  • First Prize Winner: $300,000
  • Second Prize Winner: $250,000
  • Third Prize Winner: $150,000
  • Seven Other Finalists: $100,000 each
  • Additional funding is also allocated for training and global immersion programs.

Apart from the financial rewards, finalists gain access to investors, business experts, mentorship programs, and media visibility that can help scale their businesses internationally.
